The Flying Fox Bat

This is my report on the amazing flying fox bat!

The flying fox bat, contrary to its name is not always large. The smallest species is 6 centimeters (2.4 inches) long and thus smaller than some microbats!

The largest reach 40 cm (16inches) in length and can attain a wingspan of 150cm (5 feet) Weighing in at nearly 1kg (2.2 pounds). Most Fox Bats, aka Fruit Bats, have large eyes that allow them to orient visually in the twilight of dusk and inside caves and forests.

Their sense of smell is excellent. In contrast to the microbats, the fruit bats do not use echo location - with one exception - the Eqyptian fruit bat Rousettys Eqyptiacus, which uses high pitched clicks to navigate in caves.

This is how they behave and their ecology: Fruit Bats are Frugivorous or nectarivorous meaning they eat fruits or lick flowers.

I think the Flying Fox Bat is a wonderful creature....

Here is a picture I drew of a Flying Fox Bat. I did it on my Dad's laptop:
